Who We Are
and Why We Exist
The Urban Christian Leadership Center exists to educate, support, and sustain the next generation of Christian ministry leaders by creating spaces
for learning, mentorship and community.

Our Story
The Urban Christian Leadership Center (UCLC) was formed in response to a critical need within Hispanic Pentecostal churches in urban communities: the desire to preserve the heritage of Spanish-speaking ministries while empowering the next generation of English-speaking leaders. Located in the Bronx but serving the broader New York City and New England regions, UCLC was born out of the lived experience of Bishop Hector Bonano and Pastor Philip Bonano, a father and son duo who have successfully built parallel ministries, one in Spanish and one in English, under the same roof.
“Over the course of the last six years, we have learned how to unite our two very different congregations and do even more impactful ministry; deepening our reach and seeing great advancement for the Kingdom of God. As a team, my son and I began to dream about the UCLC’s training program and we believe that our personal story is powerful and can be effective within our ministry context for the glory of the Lord.” - Bishop Hector Bonano
